finally

I have finally received my acceptance to grad school! It's nice to be part of an institution again; I feel ... institutionalized.

Tonight I saw Primer, a little indie flick about some dot-com entrepreneurs who make a time machine, at the Angelika Theater. The movie was initially mesmerizing for its cinematography (spare, yellow-toned, deliberately overexposed), but overall the movie just made no sense. How does a screenplay like that get out of Dodge?

Hey Jen,

I hate the Angelika. I live around the corner, but I'll take a train, two buses and a taxi uptown to see the same movie at another theater. Next time, pick another movie at the Sunshine. Somehow, I've liked just about every movie I've ever seen there. Maybe it's just that I'm in a better frame of mind - an awareness that I'm seeing a movie close to home but I'm not seeing it at the Angelika. That said, I did not care for the Triplets of Belleville.

You seem to spend so much time in my neighborhood. Let me know next time you're in the area - I've got those CDs for you.
