This map juxtaposes this year's election results with a map of slave states and free states prior to the Civil War. Guess which states voted for Bush? Red state = slave state.

yes, Jen it's no coincidence. I believe it's the same kind of stodgy, fundamentalist thinking that condoned slavery that would go with Bush for reasons euphamisticly called "moral values". Underneath it all, mixed up with it all, is a fear of the "other", black people, gay people, foreigners. So with the legitimate fear of terrorism, all this other stuff is stirred up within their collective psyche. The country is still divided - two Americas. That's our history.
