class issues and the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine

When a reminiscing alumnus uses the words "coxswain" and "regatta" in the same sentence, I still positively giggle, as if the speaker had instead declaimed "Here, darling, we bathe only in champagne."

As possibly the only NY comedian who regularly rows (and was on my college crew team) I would register an official complaint.

But then I realize that not only is my website www.BrainCHAMPAGNE.com, but that there are always at least a couple of bottles of Champagne in my fridge, and I do consume the stuff pretty regularly.

It needs to be mentioned that when I was on Penn's crew team probably half the team was on some sort of financial aid (and Penn awards scholarships only on the basis of need).

Oh, and as a single sculler, I have been coxless since 1985. So yes, I have been going back and forth by myself for a long time.
