ESPN frequently replays the video of Rebecca Sealfon winning the 1997 National Spelling Bee by spelling "euonym," shrieking out each letter in a barely-human, but very excited, manner. (The video is here). In July, in a seemingly only tangentially-related event, local free newspaper The Brooklynite sent someone to cover the Williamsburg Spelling Bee. Julian Voloj took photos, some of which appear here and here .
I have finally received a copy of the article. And the article is written by (wait for it...) Rebecca Sealfon. Rebecca Sealfon attended my spelling bee! She is apparently a fully-fledged adult now. Oh, little euonym. That's not a bad name for a puppy.

The article quotes me as saying, in reference to our kinder-and-gentler bee and its three-strikes-you're-out policy, "You have to keep the love going."

"rebecca sealfon"..ha ha ha
we just graduated Princeton and nothing has changed, she still makes those awful sounds. Her look has not changed either, poor puppy!
Hmmmm...sound like someone's jealous! If that's the case it sounds like Rebecca's grown up to be a beautiful young women and her name remains an euonym!
Does she still sniff her fingers while thinking things through?
Yes, Anonymous #1, be nice!
Apparently Rebecca attended our spelling bee and wrote that article, but I didn't recognize her there, and certainly no one was overtly finger-sniffing.
If you were really grammatically obsessed, you wouldn't have misplaced an apostrophe in possessive its.
