under the underground

The New York Underground Comedy Festival is happening right now. It is absolutely not underground; apparently the name is taken from the first show that was part of the festival, which occurred in a basement. No festival that bills itself as "the largest-ever comedy festival in New York" can really be "underground." That's like evaluating the "indie cred" of, say, Disneyworld.

Anyway, although everyone in New York who has ever said something funny seems to have gotten involved with the festival in some way, I haven't. I've been knocking up a surrogate mother and running the spelling bee and such. Maybe I'm just too underground for the Underground Comedy Festival.

Hey, Love your blog.
Love your T shirts.
Bought two.

Don't worry about being too underground for the Underground Comedy Festival. You don't have anything to prove. You're going to be the Queen of the Blogosphere! Instead,go to Disney World (you brought it up first)---at Pleasure Island they have a comedy show called Forbidden Disney...Plus, the Magic Kingdom actually has a REAL underground. The entire park is built like 15 feet above ground (sea level--Florida is flat flat and low low low) on top of these traveling highways underneath that get employees between say Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, without being seen by the tourons. It's called the Utilidor. Very cool experience (but don't ride in the elevators, take the stairs, you'll find your ass stuck between the Utilidor below and Main Street USA above with no way out.)

Rock on, Jen, Rock on!
