X-Baby

Remove this kid's third arm?! Dear god, why? He could play killer piano, cheat at poker, reach for his gun after the sheriff has told him to put both hands in the air....

This is just like the X-Men movies! He's a MUTANT and they're trying to "CURE" him. Stand and fight!!!

Hahaha, X-men, too funny Jen.

It's always good to have a spare. Besides, if he were to ever get stranded on a mountain top oneday, at least he'll have something to eat when the rations run out.

I would agree with you. A third arm could be a wonderful asset. But, you just know, one of the left side pair will feel neglected and ultimately turn out evil. It'll be snatching purses and giving nuns the finger when he's not looking, causing him all kinds of grief.

The thing to bear in mind about polybrachia and polydactyly, I think, is that the extra arms and fingers are not always functional. For every Francesco Lentini who could kick a soccer ball with his third leg, there are a thousand polybrachial and polydactylic persons for whom an extra appendage or digit is a curse inviting ridicule and scorn. And, indeed, although Lentini achieved worldwide fame, it did not come until he was in his thirties; even then, it came at the price of being labelled a circus "attraction" (read: freak).

Three-armed persons are rare enough; three-armed persons who can play the guitar and tambourine simultaneously, even rarer. Given that, I don't know that if I were a parent, I would want that life for my child, any more than I would want my "mutant" children, if conjoined, not to be separated if possible. I think the parents of this exceptional child have to make that call, based on the counsel of qualified medical professionals, and they should not be second-guessed. The psychological stress of being the parent of this infant is probably great enough as it is, without having to be compounded by the judgments of a public who have never walked the proverbial mile in his or her three shoes.

The problem with you MATT PENN, is that you're overly educated!

'Awww, lookeee at the little baby... aaaaarrrrgggghh, what in the fucking lords name in vain is that?????????'

'He's special, oneday, this little child, who you have all forsaken, will oneday lead our planet to freedom.'

'I'm from the future, I have seen that Earth will oneday be conquered by an alien race..'

'Huh? what race?'

'A race of beings from a galaxy, far way, yet unknown to us, undetected by our technologies.'

'They say this child will rule... The prophecies have spoken thus..'

'This child is an abomination... he must be killed..'

'Kill my child and the gods will avenge him with all their wrath and fury'

'The child a son of Earth, though different from his brothers and sisters, has a gift..'

'what kind of gift?'

'A gift unique to him'

Zip, 3000 years into the future...

'I am Zarg, the prodigal son, three arms have I, and the ability to transport myself to anywhere and anytime. And... to assume the myriad of forms of that period, to become and to meld, to transform and to lead...'

'he is crazy.'

'They say he speaks the truth...'

'This Zarg, who is he? and what does it want?'

'he is a being, blessed by the gods, and he cannot be killled...'

'I will kill him, even if it means the death of me...'

'he is too powerful...'

'This is nonsense!!!'

'Why O why? the poor boy is just a child...'

X-Man? This kid is halfway to being Xaphod Beeblebrox. I say keep the arm, and transplant a second head.

So, the arm was removed ... "neither arm was fully functional and doctors decided to remove the one closest to his chest after tests revealed it was less developed."

Shame ... he could have made a bloody fortune at the poker table ...

As I suspected, the arm that was amputated was not functional. A shame that neither of the "left pair" is.

I hope this little boy's troubles are behind him, and that he will go on to lead a happy life.
