I was also going to hire an electrician to rewire a long-defunct ceiling fixture in my bedroom, after first removing the acoustic styrofoam tile that's been covering the ceiling for decades.
But after reading about your experience, I knew that I would be courting a fixture full of drowned vermin, not to mention flies and moths who would be hypnotized by the light bulbs, bash into them and get singed to death directly over my bed.
This would provide a lot of amusement for the cats, but probably not for my husband and me.
