CNN issued an apology this evening.
Without offering my endorsement here of the senator or any other candidate (declared or otherwise), I will say that I think it would be incredibly stupid to try to make hay out of the fact that Mr. Obama's name sounds like Osama--it doesn't really--or that his middle name is Hussein. That would come off as being extremely racist--probably because it is--and petty. Barack Obama was named after his father, and happens to be a devout Christian.
