Momisfamous Part II

My mom loves panda bears, so I sent her a link to this page of baby panda photos. Look how tiny a newborn panda is! Now think about this -- a 120 lb. woman has to give birth to, say, an 8 lb. baby, while a 600 lb. panda only has to give birth to a 5 oz. baby! Unfair! Childbirth must be a walk in the park! Dear Jen,
They don't really have it that easy. I've seen two films showing pandas giving birth. They get no human assistance, but they can lick the part that hurts. There are always tradeoffs.
Love Mom

I am laughing at your delusion that any woman giving birth to an 8 lb baby would be retaining her 120 lb figure. I haven't been 120 lbs since I was a teenager, but in any case I gained an additional 42 lbs during my pregnancy with my son who weighed less than 8 lbs!

Ah, yes! I meant a woman who weighed 120 lbs BEFORE getting pregnant.

NOT-SO-FUN FACT:

In 1985, American Patti Frustaci of California became the first woman to give birth to septuplets--four boys and three girls weighing between 17 and 24 ounces--and the heartache for the Frustaci family only began. One of the septuplets was stillborn; three more died within their first three weeks of life from hyaline membrane disease, a condition in which the lungs collapse after each breath. Of the three surviving Frustaci septuplets, who today have reached their majority but still live with their father, all suffer from cerebral palsy and are mentally retarded.

But what is perhaps even more unbelievable, is that after having obtained a $2.7 million settlement from the hospital that first had treated Patti with Pergonal, Mrs. Frustaci--who now had three special-needs children in addition to her eldest child Joseph--again became pregnant after taking Pergonal and gave birth to healthy twins; bringing the family's living offspring to six.

Although half of the Frustaci children are healthy, their mother, sadly, is not. No one knows what happened to Patti Frustaci after she suffered a nervous breakdown and was institutionalized. In the last interview he gave, in 1997, Sam Frustaci allowed that he was living in California with his six children. He would not elaborate on the whereabouts of his wife, saying only that his family's ordeal had been "a nightmare".
