Making the world "safe" for children makes it autocratic, facile, and cultureless for adults
Ha! The cops in my hometown of Virginia Beach have confiscated Abercrombie and Fitch ads from the mall and charged the store manager with obscenity! (Thanks to Kenny for the link).

THIS IS THE WAY I HEARD THE STORY. THAT O-N-E COP DECIDED, BASED ON ONE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT, THAT THE POSTERS WERE OBSCENE. THE MANAGER OF A&F DISAGREED. A&F UPPERMANAGEMENT TOLD HIM (THE MANAGER) NOT TO TAKE THE POSTERS DOWN.
THE COP RETURNED, THE POSTERS CAME DOWN, THE MANAGER WAS CITED.
THE JUDGE RULED THE POSTERS WERE NOT OBSCENE AND THE POSTERS WENT BACK UP.
THE BIG DEAL WAS A POSTER WITH THREE GUYS WITH THEIR PANTS HANGING TOO LOW.
(WHAT COULD THESE YOUNG MEN HAVE BEEN UP TO,... BEFORE THEY STARTED WALKING AWAY AND THIS PHOTO WAS SNAPPED?)
THE SECOND POSTER HAD A TOPLESS YOUNG WOMAN WITH HER ARMS CROSSED IN FRONT OF HER. (WHAT EVIL WAS SHE UP TO?)
I'VE SEEN BOTH OF THESE PHOTOS. THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN OBSCENE BY PRE-1960'S STANDARDS. TODAY, THERE IS MORE BARE SKIN ON THE STREETS AND BEACHES IN THIS CITY. IN FACT, I'VE SEEN MORE BARE SKIN IN THE GROCERY STORES. (IT'S A CASUAL CITY AND WE'RE VERY FRIENDLY.)
THE LATEST NEWS:
A&F CLOSED THIS LOCATION. CURRENTLY, THE NEAREST STORE IS IN DOWNTOWN NORFOLK.
Bah. You ran away to liberal New York. Sissy. I stayed.
Well, I didn't stay. I left for 7 years, then I came back and bought a house. But whatever. NOW I fight for justice here in Pat Robertson's territory.
Just do you know, I really enjoy swearing at those signs.
